"Yellowstone" Season 5, featuring Kevin Costner's character John Dutton, will conclude in November 2024, according to the Paramount Network. The network also announced two spinoff series from producer Taylor Sheridan, titled "1944" and "2024."

"2024" will continue the story after the conclusion of "Yellowstone" with new locations and characters, but some crossover characters from the original series. "1944" will be a sequel to the series "1923" and a prequel to the original "Yellowstone." The announcement comes after delays caused by the Hollywood writers' strike and actors' strike, leading to the new finale date for next year.

Chris McCarthy, President and CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, expressed excitement about the spinoff series, stating that they will take audiences on a thrilling and unexpected journey.

Kevin Costner's character, John Dutton, has been a central figure in "Yellowstone," but disagreements between the actor and creator Taylor Sheridan over scheduling, pay, and Costner's movie career have led to the character's story ending. Costner is also involved in another epic Western project, "Horizon: An American Saga," which he has produced, directed, co-written, and stars in. The first chapter of the movie series will be released on June 28, with the second chapter following on August 16. The story follows a group of settlers and Indigenous people on America's Western frontier over a span of 15 years.
