Paul Wesley, known for his role as vampire heartthrob Stefan Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries, is determined to leave that chapter of his life behind. In a recent interview with In Style, Wesley adamantly expressed his disinterest in revisiting the vampire genre. "I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone Vampire Diaries," Wesley firmly stated.
During its eight-season run, The Vampire Diaries captivated audiences with its complex love triangle between Stefan, Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev), and Stefan's bad boy brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Wesley reflected on his time as Stefan, revealing that
"Eight years is a long time, and I'm so glad to put that to rest. But I loved how dynamic he was," Wesley explained. He described the challenge of keeping the character fresh as the show progressed and Stefan went through different arcs, from being pure evil to ultimately ending up as the good guy.
As Wesley moves on from his vampire days, he is currently immersed in a new role as young James T. Kirk in Paramount+'s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Speaking about his involvement in the iconic franchise, Wesley shared his fondness for episodes that involve time travel or exploring Earth.
"My favorite episodes are the ones where they time travel or go to Earth. There's one specific episode that I love called 'City on the Edge of Tomorrow,'" Wesley shared. He discussed Kirk's moral dilemma in the episode, where he meets someone he can't bring back with him to his own timeline. Additionally, Wesley expressed his excitement about Season 2 of Strange New Worlds, which explores the characters' experiences on Earth.
With his focus set on these exciting new ventures, Wesley remains resolute in leaving his vampire days firmly in the past. As he continues to take on new roles and embrace fresh challenges, fans can look forward to seeing him explore strange new worlds beyond the realm of vampires.
