Cher is full of admiration for Kelly Clarkson's fresh take on her music. During an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday, the 41-year-old singer performed one of Cher's songs from her very first holiday album, Christmas. Clarkson's rendition of "DJ Play a Christmas Song" was filled with soul and showcased her powerful vocals against a sparkling beat. As she belted out the lyrics, "DJ, play a Christmas song / I wanna be dancing all night long / It's cold outside, but it's warm in here / And that's the only thing I want this year," she added jazzy flourishes to the chorus.
When the performance ended, Clarkson couldn't contain her excitement and exclaimed, "I love this song!" Cher, the legendary Goddess of Pop, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to express her love for Clarkson's version of her festive track. She wrote, " KELLY, you aced it! You got the girl version of my voice, babe. I am out of my mind over your version. The modulation gave me... I don't know, I just lost my mind. Sister, you got it!" The following day, Clarkson responded to Cher's message, thrilled by the compliment. She wrote, "Girl, you gave us the greatest gift this Christmas with this song! Thank you for letting me sing it. I love you so much, and you made my year with your post!"
This isn't the first time Clarkson has shown her love for "DJ Play a Christmas Song." While hosting NBC's Christmas in Rockefeller Center in late November, she couldn't contain her excitement. "Oh my gosh, you guys," Clarkson exclaimed. "Cher just put out a Christmas jam, y'all! That song is so good! That is my favorite song in a very long time!" It seems Clarkson has been fully embracing the holiday spirit lately.
